Beacon Hill Football Under 8's
Introduction
Firstly I would like to welcome everybody back from last season and extend a warm welcome to all our new players and their parents. From a squad of eleven at the end of 2008/09 we now have twenty-one (and growing!) eager children in the under 8 age group and I am very much looking forward to an exciting season.
I am delighted to introduce Derek Vidgen, whose son Harry has started training with us this season. Derek has offered his services as a coach and will be assisting with the under 8s on a regular basis. His football career is considerably more extensive than mine and he has lots of ideas to bring to our squad.
The club’s ethos is very much about ‘football for all’ and above all fun. With this in mind I have been taking advice from our more experienced coaches in the club and I have been giving careful consideration to how the year should be structured with regard to training and matches.
Practice
Derek and I are keen to develop the children’s existing skills and encourage positional awareness to help when we start playing matches. This will be achieved initially by continuing our regular Saturday morning training from 10 – 11.30 at the Hindhead Sports Fields.
I have also been asked about midweek training, as the older age groups started at U8 level. I have therefore booked an Astroturf pitch at The Edge, Woolmer Hill School, Haslemere every Thursday from 6pm – 7pm. This training will start after half term on 5th November.
Please note it is not of course mandatory for your child to come but I do hope to see as many of you as possible! Please let me know by email if your child is available so that I may plan accordingly; the pitch cost is included in your subs for the season.

Home matches are at the "Hindhead Sports Fields".
